Indonesian production of electricity-producing solar panels

Jakarta - Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa said, PT Lembaga Elektronika Nasional (LEN) is already producing electricity-producing solar panels but the core components still to be imported. When asked whether the government will inject funds into the LEN in order to produce your own with a larger amount, Hatta said he will meet with State Minister for SOEs to discuss the issue. "Indeed we did not prioritize the use of the state budget because of the business development of solar device is possible in Indonesia," he said.

Hatta said the use of solar cells to convert solar energy into electricity is cheaper in the maintenance and easier to use. "It (solar cells) can be used anywhere, but especially for areas that do not tereletrifikasi, such as the outer islands, small islands, coastal areas, or say that has not been connected to electricity," he said. He mentions, the use of solar panels have become popular, including to the streets and houses. "That made LEN, but its main elements are still imported. He mentions, LEN at Bandung itself already using solar energy to electricity with a capacity of about 8,000 watts. "We expect the plant will be producing the equivalent of about 50 MW per year," said Hatta.
