Holland Depok !! Who they are ???

Depok Dutch. Who is not familiar with this title. Sometimes the term is always used in Greater Jakarta and its surrounding communities, to poke fun at people who are quasi-bulean kebule.
Many of the stories and the legacy it inherited post-colonial state in Java that has been 250 years old. One of them, the existence of 12 clans descendants of former slaves freed by Dutch merchants, land, Cornelis Chastelein. They settled in the Old Depok, Bogor, West Java, and is often called Holland Depok.

Who would have thought if there really Depok Dutch, and even reproduce. But do not think, the Netherlands Depok and its derivatives is not blond, white, and blue-eyed, like the Dutch. On the contrary, the Dutch called this Depok boned physique that is not far from the native people.

Then how their origins? Here we speak.

In the 16th century, when Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch, there lived a landlord named Cornelis Chastelein inhabiting and bought a farm and plantation area named Depok. Cornelis later became President in the region which covers thousands of hectares of it.

Unable to care for such a vast land, he then took and hired slaves, primarily from eastern Indonesia such as Bali, Makassar, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, Java, Rote Island and the Philippines. There are at least 200 slaves hired.

Other landlords should not at that time, Cornelis treats his slaves with very human. The slaves are treated, given education, as well as Protestant Christianity was introduced through a Padepokan Christian. This Padepokan named De Eerste Protestante Organisatie van Christenen, abbreviated Depok. From this city's name derives.

Because there appears to equality with his master, no doubt the people living around the plantation slaves had called the Dutch Depok.

At one point, Cornelis Chastelein died on June 28, 1714 due to illness. Cornelis also bequeath the plantation slaves who had been freed. Here are the contents of his will.

"... And the others are the highest position hoetang Timoer soengei soengei Karoekoet up on big, Son, Anthony v. Chastelein ganggoe may cause the wilderness to live will goenanya Misti sn-boedak boedak sn bond or free, and they also: sn and down-temoeroennja translation may occasionally ataoe cut a tree cutting permit from the wilderness to be heard from milling teboe sn ... and they should make the translation sn Grk soewatoe what should be done the damage the wilderness to sn and down-temoeroennja boeat kasoekaran ,..."
Then hundreds of slaves were then grouped into 12 genera and fam or inherit the will of Cornelis to care for the plantation. Dozens of those clans that Laurenz, Loen, Leander, Jonathans, Toseph, Yakob, Sudira, Samuel, Zadoch, Isac, Bakas and Tholence.

Among them, one third are native Dutch descent who is married to an Indonesian or Dutch families who prefer to stay in Indonesia. Depok Dutch title is actually only a mere label for
indigenous people who get the privilege of the Dutch government at that time.

But, according to Elder Holland Depok, Antonio Loen, privileges that just sparked envy of other citizens. They were often accused as 'stooges' when the Dutch still occupied Indonesia. In fact, the Dutch culture and the celebration of the birthday of Cornelis Chastelein part is prohibited.

"Actually, people give nicknames to us as the Dutch Depok Depok natives. Their behavior is like the Dutch because the Dutch upbringing. Prior to recognize indigenous education bench, we had school. No wonder, when the revolution in 1945 Depok residents who murdered many fighters for being stooges Netherlands. They live decades privileged Netherlands, "

Dutch clan giving Chastelein apparently not the only trigger social jealousy. Jamruh, the Betawi community elders in Depok, adding, this is also because they are less mingled with local people.

"They and their 12 offspring who had until now of everyday use Dutch. In schools that once required they would not speak Indonesian and Dutch retain. Their customs were like the Dutch. Refusing to be called the father, uncle or meneers wants, the women's aunt, "he explained.
This jealousy peaked in the 1950s. Hundreds of Dutch house in Depok, which has become the Old Depok Station, residents burned approximately.
